The runaway leaders made it 17 Premier Division wins out of 17 with a 2-0 victory at home to Battle Baptists.

Both goals came in the opening 20 minutes. Colton Alleyne-Davis made the initial breakthrough after seven minutes before Ricky Matthews hit a right-foot screamer from 20 yards.

Victory in their final league game of the season against second-placed Hollington United would give Social a remarkable 100% record.

Baptists, on the other hand, have dropped into the relegation places because Ninfield United pulled off a very good 4-1 win away to Rock-a-Nore.

Josh Mabb and Simon Corke both scored twice for Ninfield, while an own goal brought a depleted Rocks side level during the first half.

Robertsbridge United remain bottom of the top flight table after suffering another narrow defeat on Saturday, this time 2-1 away to Iden.

Darren Warne opened Iden’s account in the ninth minute and Chris Gould doubled the advantage after 36 minutes. Chris Phillips brought Robertsbridge back into contention just before the break, and there were chances for both sides after the interval, but defences held firm.

With Division One pacesetters Mountfield United suffering from a late postponement, second-placed Hawkhurst United took full advantage by winning 4-1 against Hollington United II.

Dean Fox hit Hollington’s goal in the first period, but Hawkhurst still went in at the break 2-1 up thanks to the finishing of Paul Channer and Danny Mcgahan.

Scott Penfold put further daylight between the sides shortly after the restart before Greg Daniel sealed Hawkhurst’s win with 15 minutes left. They are now a point behind Mountfield having played an extra game.

Icklesham Casuals moved back into a relegation spot on goal difference after losing 4-1 away to mid-table Sidley United.
Adam Cochrane and James Bailey put Sidley 2-0 ahead at the interval, but Sean Baker pulled one back for Casuals at the start of the second period.

Their elation was short-lived, however, as Mark Funnell made it three for Sidley midway through the second half before Casuals conceded an own goal 16 minutes from time.

A full Macron East Sussex Football League round-up will appear in this Friday’s Observers.
