Sussex Senior Cup: Shoreham 0 Three Bridges 1 - Brannon O'Neill's goal puts Bridges into third round

It was one of the few highlights from a scrappy game overall.

O’Neill was one of the stars of the game with a good understanding with another new signing Olu Oluwatimilehin in the centre of the park.

Youngster Brandon Green had a lively debut and stand-in skipper Lee Hall looked at ease in the unusual position of left-back.

The early signs were that Bridges would stroll to a comfortable victory as a free-kick from O’Neill went just wide and Omar Folkes fired just over the bar.

But Shoreham grew in confidence as the tie remained goalless and a decent shot on the turn by Martin Mutingi was well held by James Shaw, who also had to be alert to hang onto another good chance from Ross Myers.

Bridges had a lot of possession and passed the ball around well until the final third, where home ‘keeper James Broadbent had a relatively comfortable evening.

At the other end Shaw was called on to make two very good saves from Myers and Mutingi, whilst there were a couple of timely blocks and tackles by Bradley Peters and Joe Tennant.

And Shoreham failed to capitalise on a couple of other half-chances.

Bridges substitute Kelvin Adjei looked lively and came close as he burst through before the visitors at last broke the deadlock as Lee Hall delivered the perfect cross for O’Neill to rise superbly to place his header beyond Broadbent.

Not a spectacle, but a win nevertheless.
