The SCFL Division 1 match finished 1-1 but Rhodie was disappointed with his side’s showing.

Harry Magee gave the hosts the lead on 20 minutes but Joe Warner levelled from Josh Warner’s cross on 39 minutes. Varndeanians were then reduced to ten men when Nathan Bowen was sent off for fouling Joe Warner, who was through on goal, late in the first half.

Despite the man advantage, Swans were thankful keeper Gary Elliott made a couple of smart stops and Rhodie said: “It was a very disappointing performance. I kept the same team that beat Varndeanians 2-0 in midweek but we just didn’t get going and I’d say we were lucky to come away with a draw.

“The sending off seemed to rally them a little bit and we didn’t take advantage of the extra man.

“Although we threw the kitchen sink at them in the last 15 minutes, we didn’t have any clear chances and Gary made a save from a one-on-one, while Adam Bardouleau cleared a shot off the line and made a couple of last-ditch tackles.

“At home, we’re playing well, scoring goals and creating lots of chances but we’re just not putting in performances away from home. Saturday was a game I thought we should be winning but we were fortunate to get a point.”
