Tate struck on the hour, then with two minutes left as Little Common ran out 2-1 victors in the Southern Combination League Division 1 encounter.

Having suffered a 5-1 home league defeat to Oakwood last time out, Wickers boss John Kilgarriff wanted a response from his side and, despite the defeat, he felt he got that.

Kilgarriff said: “We were dominant for 70 minutes of this game but the same problems seem to keep creeping in.

“We’re creating so many chances but just can’t take them and that is what it costing us at present.

“The performance against Oakwood was not good enough and I wanted to see a response. Credit to my players they put in a decent display against a big, strong unit in Little Common.

“We’ve performed well against the top teams this season, we just need to replicate that against teams in and around us now.”

Tate fired Common in front with a neat finish on 58 minutes but Dean Smith headed Wickers level two minutes later.

With both teams looking likely to take a point, Tate struck once more to seal victory for Common.
