The Rams had the better chances in the first half with the excellent Tom Chapman seeing his final shot deflected for a corner as he tried to thread his way through three tackles.

Charlie Leach then made two glorious late clearances off the line, the second following a good initial block by keeper Martin Grant.

Elliott Romain, who was a constant torment to the visitors’ back four, looked to have a decent penalty claim seven minutes before the interval, and just two minutes before the break a curling in-swinging corner by Lee Carney was headed off the line.

Bridges should have taken the lead after 62 minutes when Leach set up Romain, whose fierce drive hit the post. Abu Touray, following up, saw his effort blocked by Rams keeper Nick Shaw.

And from the resulting corner, Owen Roberts had a pulverising shot blocked too.

Ramsgate had their moments, but Bridges defended stoutly, none more so than the ageless Nigel Brake.

Both Tony Garrod and Charlie Cooke had to come off with knocks, but as the game moved into added-time Romain broke clear on the left, kept his feet as a challenge came in inside the box and saw his final shot towards the near post blocked again by Shaw.

But with the last action of the match, it was the visitors who almost stole the points as Connor Heffernan’s corner was met by the head of Olly Schulz only for his effort to be denied by the crossbar.
