A determined Three Bridges had a deserved 2-0 win over a tough, rough Sittingbourne, to move seven points above the relegation zone.

A goal in each half, playing some neat passing football, instead of the long ball game, made for an enjoyable game to watch.

Bridges started early when within minutes of the kick-off, Tony Garrod was clear through but the Sittingbourne goalkeeper Adam Malloy made a desperate last ditch save.

Then disaster struck as Tim Rivers was forced off, with a recurrence of the injury sustained at Leatherhead, to be replaced by Charlie Cooke who was still not fully recovered from his injury.

Martin Grant made a fine flying save to deny Sittingbourne’s Tom Brunt, while at the other end both Williams Peauroux and Tony Garrod had good chances.

All the chances were now coming from Bridges and it was this dominance which led to a brace of cautions, from a total of four for the night, for Sittingbourne for a foul and deliberate handball.

The energetic Abu Touray had a shot go well over the bar and then after 36 minutes, Three Bridges took a deserved lead.

Tony Garrod went on a long run through a slack defence to have a clear shot at goal.

Three Bridges finished the first half continuing to play good passing football and well deserved the lead.

Delight for the home supporters was increased after 50 minutes when Three Bridges doubled their score.

A short pass from Lee Carney to Abu Touray and a cross to Williams Peauroux, unmarked at the far post, to head the ball home.

Lee Carney was now completely running the midfield and an inter-change of passes with Tony Garrod saw his vicious shot rebound away off the post.

Sittingbourne made two substitutions and began to play better, but Martin Grant and Owen Roberts dealt with the chances with ease.

As the game came to an end, Garrod had his final shot well saved by the fingertips of the goalkeeper.

An excellent game to watch, where everybody played well.
