Three Bridges beaten by 93rd minute goal

As the clock ticked away, it looked as if Bridges could get a hard-earned and deserved draw, until Folkestone scored in the 93rd minute.

Bridges were still missing key players in Sammy MacVicar, Tony Garrod and Callum Donaghey.

But they started brightly as Allan Tait put a 20-yard shot just wide.

Folkestone gradually got into the game and Kieron Thorp, on his 25th birthday, had to make a good save and Matt Daniel cleared the rebound off the line. Folkestone were now beginning to look dangerous down Bridges’ right flank and could have taken the lead when a close-range header went just wide.

The second half was mainly Folkestone but Thorp was largely untroubled.

Bridges were continuing to defend well with Nigel Brake, Jamie Crellin and Matt Daniel outstanding.

Bridges were also unable to give Folkestone many anxious moments.

In the 90th minute and with three minutes of added-time, Folkestone missed an open goal but in the 93rd minute they finally broke through.

Brake and Crellin, by now both contenders for man of the match, both went for the same ball and it swirled through enabling Ashley Miller to move on and beat Kieron Thorp.

Even then, Bridges had the chance to equalise with a goalmouth scramble with the ball being cleared wide as the whistle blew for full-time.
