U16s reach Sussex County Cup Final

Girl’s football is continuing to strive at Warden Park with the u16 girls reaching The Sussex County Cup Final for the second year in a row.

After suffering extra time disappointment in last season’s final, the u16’s have performed extremely well to get back to the final and are determined to go one better this year and become Champions.

Last week’s semi final victory over Shoreham was a story of two halves. Going against the difficult conditions towards such a strong wind, Warden Park struggled to get the ball down and move it quickly. Added the extra distance that Shoreham’s clearances were getting with the wind behind them, it was difficult o sustain pressure. At the break the scores were level at 1-1.

In the second half with the wind behind us, the girls were able to let their quality and control dominate the game, particularly in midfield. Anna Hemery, was able to dictate the play for us with some exquisite passing. Lauren Callaghan was always heavily involved in our creating of chances and between them they really bossed the game in the key areas. Chloe Willis, star of the quarter final produced another outstanding display with 2 goals.

It is not clear who the girls will face in the final but the girls head to the final with a lot of confidence and belief.
