Peacehaven’s Under 18 team may have lost 8-0 to Arsenal’s U16 side on Saturday but the Tye’s young players were left ‘buzzing’ afterwards at sharing the same pitch as Premier League stars of the future.
A bumper crowd were at the Sports Park to see the Magpies go up against the best young talent the world famous North London Gunners had to offer.
And although the final scoreline may have looked disheartening, the staff and young players at the Piddinghoe Avenue club were purring afterwards at just how good the Arsenal teenagers were.
The official Peacehaven feed (@PT_FC) raved: Great display of football, it finished 8-0 but with four internationals on the pitch the Peacehaven boys did brilliantly, well done.”
The club’s Under 18 feed (@PTFCu18) joked: “8-0 defeat. Just not acceptable. Gonna be doing some running Monday. Expected a win today. Disappointing...” but added: “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was a pleasure to lose 8-0 today.
“Won’t forget that volley in a long time.”
Tom Levitt (@tommylevitt) said: “Actually proud of the way the boys performed today sounds weird as we lost 8-0 but Arsenal were insane!! #FutureFullInternationals.”
‘Hammo’ (@JamesHammond97) said: I see football in a whole new perspective after today.
“Just played against future England stars.”
Daly Tucknott (@dalytucknott96) wrote: “It’s only just sunk in how good those Arsenal boys actually were today.
“I’ve never seen football played like that from a bunch of 15-year-olds before, unreal.
“I’ve never seen people so buzzed after losing 8-0 as us lot are on twitter right now.”
Robbie Darling (@DarlingRobbie) added: “Have no doubt that some of those players I’ve just played against will play in the prem, they were ridiculous #ballers”
‘Halletttt’ (@Lewis_Halletttt) opined: “I have never played against an opposition so good in every position.”
And Lukas (@LukasJones97) admitted: “I wanted to celebrate some of their goals, they were that nice.”
But the young Peacehaven stars were not dwelling on their memorable weekend, with the Peacehaven U18 feed reporting on Monday: “Credit where credit’s due, just two days after the Arsenal game, lads were back in tonight working as hard as ever.
