Underdog tag to help Golds in John O’Hara final?

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club manager Mark Bennett is hoping the underdog tag will help his side as they take on the County League champions Peacehaven in the John O’Hara Cup final tomorrow (Friday).

Division 2 winners Golds will face the division-higher title winners hoping to banish their final hoodoo.

Bennett said: “To be fair, we have got nothing to lose as not many people expect us to win and there is no pressure, really.

“We played Peacehaven in the quarter-finals of the RUR Cup and were 2-0 up until late on, and things transpired against us and we ended up losing 3-2.

“I think the difference is against Seaford (in the Division 2 Cup final) everyone expected us to win, this time, no-one does.

“We are doing things a bit differently as well and will be wearing a shirt and tie, hopefully, to get us in a different frame of mind.”

The final at Culver Road, Lancing, kicks off at 7.30pm.
