United close in on new boss

Hastings United Football Club expects to appoint a new first team boss in the next few days.

The deadline for applications to succeed Nigel Kane was the end of last week and interviews have been taking place this week.

Speaking yesterday (Thursday) morning, United chairman Dave Ormerod said: “It’s looking like an announcement will be made early next week. I expect we will definitely know by Monday or Tuesday. We’ve had some interviews this week and we’ve got a few more to do.”

Ormerod is now keen to get an appointment in place as soon as possible.

United have this week announced several more pre-season fixtures, taking the number so far to six.

Confirmed friendlies to date: Saturday July 18 Kingstonian (h), Tuesday July 21 Eastbourne Town (h), Thursday July 23 Gillingham XI (h), Monday July 27 St Leonards (h), Wednesday July 29 Burgess Hill Town (a), Saturday August 1 Whitehawk (h).

The composition of Ryman Division One South for next season has now been determined by The FA Leagues Committee.

Molesey and Dorking Wanderers have come up from step five, Peacehaven & Telscombe have come down from step three, and Chatham Town have moved sideways from Division One North.
