United eager for return to winning ways

Hastings United will be desperate for three points when they return to action tonight (Tuesday).

The U’s will entertain AFC Hornchurch in the Premier Division of the Ryman Football League having won only one of their last 11 games, albeit having lost just one of their last seven.

Tony Dolby’s side lies in eighth place with 17 points from 12 games, while Hornchurch, fresh off a fine 3-1 win at Bury Town on Saturday, are one point and four positions worse off having played the same number of matches.

United supporters will be hoping for more excitement than in the two fixtures at The Pilot Field over the past week - a 2-1 loss against Dulwick Hamlet last Tuesday and bore draw with Lowestoft Town on Saturday. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Elsewhere, three of the area’s Sussex County League clubs are also in action. Rye United will go second in Division One if they avoid defeat in a tricky game away to sixth-placed Hassocks.

Sidley United and Westfield are in Sussex Senior Cup first round action with trips to Oakwood and Seaford Town respectively.
