Mark Stapley and Terry White have taken charge of the football club in a caretaker capacity since the resignation of player-manager Sean Ray on Wednesday August 7.

United chairman Dave Walters said last week that the club wouldn’t be rushed into making an appointment and the good set of results United have achieved so far would appear to justify that approach.

The U’s have picked up 10 points from their opening four Ryman Football League Division One South matches to sit second in the fledgling table, conceding only twice in the process.

United’s unbeaten record is likely to undergo a couple of stiff tests over the Bank Holiday weekend as they travel to Hythe Town tomorrow (Saturday) before hosting Ramsgate on Monday.

Hythe reached the play-offs last season and have carried that form into the new campaign, picking up eight points from their opening four fixtures. Ramsgate have collected six points so far, three of them in a notable 4-0 win at Guernsey.

Central defender Jono Richardson is back on the scene after spending three weeks in the United States, while Danny Ellis made his return from suspension in the midweek draw at Burgess Hill Town.
