United on their way to Essex

Hastings United will be eager to build on their morale-boosting efforts at the weekend.

With confidence doubtless lifted by the 5-0 thrashing of Horsham, the U’s are back in action tonight (Monday) away to Aveley.

The win over Horsham – United’s first in the league since the 1-0 success at home to Kingstonian on September 13 – has lifted them up to 16th in the Ryman Football League Premier Division table.

One of the teams United leapfrogged was Aveley, whose 3-0 reverse at home to Wealdstone leaves them two places and two points adrift of managerless United.

The clubs last met on the final day of last season when, despite winning 3-2 at The Pilot Field, it was Aveley who finished in the final relegation position with United only above the Essex side on goal difference.

Aveley were spared demotion, however, by events elsewhere in the non-league pyramid. Kick-off is 7.45pm and news of how United fare will appear on this website tomorrow morning.
