The U’s were handed a trip to League Two club Crawley Town in the draw for round two of the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup, which was made yesterday (Saturday) evening.

Crawley are 18th in League Two having been relegated from League One on the final day of last season, but it’s unlikely United will come up against any first team regulars as Crawley tend to field more of a development squad in this competition.

In fact, United were 3-0 winners at home to Crawley in the quarter-finals of the 2012/13 competition - the same season they reached round three of the FA Cup. They went on to lose 2-1 against Bognor Regis Town in the semi-finals.

Little Common are the area’s other club still involved in the senior cup and they will host Oakwood in an all-Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One tie.

The sides met just last week in the Peter Bentley League Challenge Cup and Common triumphed 4-3 after extra-time in a seven-goal thriller, also at the Recreation Ground.

The draw was broadcast by BBC Sussex and on Twitter. Ken Benham, chief executive of the Sussex County FA, drew the home teams and Tony Miles, of competition sponsors Parafix, drew the away teams. Fixtures are to be played on or before Wednesday November 11.
