The U’s will sign off for the calendar year with a visit from Burgess Hill Town today (Saturday) aiming to preserve the last remaining undefeated home record in Ryman Football League Division One South.

The U’s have won eight and drawn two of their 10 completed league fixtures at The Pilot Field so far this season, and were 3-1 up when last Monday’s visit from Walton & Hersham was controversially abandoned.

United manager John Maggs said: “All the time we can keep our home record intact and nick some points away from home we will maintain our challenge. I’ve seen Burgess Hill a couple of times this season. I know a lot of their players, we know all about them and it’s another tricky fixture.”

United drew 1-1 away to mid-table Burgess Hill in August’s reverse fixture shortly before Maggs’s arrival. Jamie Crone gave United a half time lead before the Hillians earned a deserved point after the break.
