U’s sink Cray to end winless run

Hastings United finally ended their three-and-a-half month search for a league victory this afternoon (Saturday).

The U’s ran out 3-0 winners away to Cray Wanderers in the Ryman Football League Premier Division thanks to goals from Zac Attwood, Lee Carey and Bailo Camara, although they remain third-from-bottom.

It took United just 71 seconds to open their account as Elvis Hammond’s first touch for the club released Attwood for a cultured finish. Carey doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute with a 20-yard free kick awarded for a foul on Hammond.

Camara made sure of the points in the 81st minute, racing clear down the left and scoring at the second attempt. It was a very decent performance and a deserved win for United, with new loan signing Hammond enjoying an impressive debut.
