U’s tackle League Cup tie

The U’s will entertain Three Bridges in a Ryman League Cup third round tie which will be their sixth game in the last 18 days.

With the competition not at the top of their priority list, United player-manager Sean Ray is planning to field a few first team players and a couple but not a lot of youngsters.

United are 16th in the Ryman Football League Premier Division, while Three Bridges are second-bottom of Division One South having won the Sussex County League title last season.

Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm. Admission is adults £5, under-21s free and no concessions.

Elsewhere tonight, Rye United will be eager to put their weekend FA Vase disappointment behind them with a good performance away to Burgess Hill Town in round two of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Unless Rye’s complaint about Amersham Town’s team is successful and the result of the FA Vase second round tie overturned, the Sussex Senior Cup is the last knockout competition the club is involved in this term.

Burgess Hill are fifth in Ryman Division One South - which is one level above a Rye side which lies third in Sussex County League Division One.

Little Common’s scheduled visit from Mile Oak in round three of the Sussex RUR Charity Cup will not be going ahead as the club still doesn’t possess the necessary certification to use its new floodlights in matches.

Common are hoping to have the lights re-tested at some point this week, however, and all being well, the match could be re-arranged for next Tuesday night. Common won 4-2 away to Mile Oak in Sussex Division Two on Saturday.
