More than 2,000 Albion supporters were at Selhurst Park as Brighton completed the league double over Palace for the first time since the 1983/84 season.

Saturday's 2-1 win was Albion's first at Selhurst Park since 2005 and Dunk said: "It was a nice feeling at the end to get the win.

"We just wanted to give something back to the fans as we've gone through a tough patch.

"Coming into a big game against our rivals it was nice to do the double over them and give the fans something to cheer about.

“It’s massive for us because it’s another step towards safety and the fans have the bragging rights because we’ve done the double over them.

“You saw at the end what the result meant to me and everyone at the club.”

Dunk also praised the character in Brighton's squad after goals from Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert sealed a second successive Premier League win.

He said: “We scored two great goals and we need players to step up when we’re fighting like this. It’s a great performance and a great win.

“The penalty gave them and their fans a bit of a boost, so we had to ride out that patch and we showed the character that we’ve got."
