Video: Some players lost their heads admits Bexhill boss

The Pirates had four players sent-off and their assistant manager banished to the stand during the second half of their 2-0 defeat at home to Little Common on Monday.

Munday said: “I’m really disappointed to be honest. Some of the lads their discipline’s gone, their heads have gone because things aren’t going their way.

“It’s not good enough really and it’s something we’ll have to address. In the week we’ll have a meeting and talk about it. Up until probably the last couple of months our discipline’s been really good.

“We spoke about previously where we did have bad discipline at the start of the year it’s something we wanted to address and we felt we had done that, but a local derby and things aren’t going, tempers have frayed and it’s ended up being a bad day for us.”

Bexhill went into the match without having played a competitive fixture for 23 days, whereas Common had played twice during that period.

“It’s always going to be a factor,” continued Munday. “We looked like we had heavy leags and when you’ve not got your match fitness from playing week in, week out, it takes you a while to get going.

“First half they were the better side. They looked dangerous every time they hit that long ball over the top and we didn’t seem to really react to it. It happened time after time and they seemed to get in at will really.

“The whole team performance in the first half was not good enough, but I feel we were the better side in the second half; we just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. Second half I thought we were a goal away from changing the game.”

Munday will seek a positive reaction when 11th-placed Bexhill travel to 10th-placed Ringmer in Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division One this coming Saturday.

“It’s going to be a tough game at Ringmer,” added Munday. “One of our best performances this year was against Ringmer (Bexhill won 4-1 at home to Ringmer in October) and hopefully we can do the same at their place. We need to get back to winning ways.”
