Jack Stapley, who has been Warren’s assistant this season, has taken over the reins.

Stapley said: “Jethro resigned due to family and work commitments, and I’ve been placed in charge. He’s got so much work on at the moment he just can’t commit and he’s an all or nothing person so he’s stepped down.”

Warren took the helm in summer 2014 and led the club to a 12th place finish in the old Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two last season, although Westfield were relegated for ground grading reasons.

Westfield currently lie eighth in Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division Two having won three and lost two of their first five matches.

“I’m gutted Jethro’s gone,” continued Stapley. “We’ve had good laughs playing together and during this short time I’ve coached with him.

“I’m looking forward to it because I love coaching and it’s still my aim to win the league. We’ve got to keep working hard in training and when it clicks it will carry on.”
