Hornets stopper Foster made several excellent saves to keep a clean sheet. He kept out two Jurgen Locadia headers at full stretch, kicked clear Shane Duffy's goalbound overhead kick and denied Florin Andone when the striker got through one-on-one.

Speaking after the game, Foster said: "We knew it was going to be tough, Brighton have turned their season around a bit lately and when you come to the Amex, you know the two centre-backs are going to cause you a lot of problems from set-pieces.

"Not only that, they nullified our attack as well. Every time we went long, you know it's going to fall on their heads.

"We found it tough today and we'll be a little bit disappointed with our performance but we'll definitely be happier with a point than they are."

Foster felt his save from Duffy was the best of the lot and said: "I don't even know how I did it. I was more pleased with that save than anything because it bounced and bobbled around and I just stuck a foot out.

"They are the saves you enjoy more because they're a bit off the cuff."
