Crawley Town's win against Exeter City on Saturday win put Reds in good stead for a tough week which involves trips to Morecambe (last night) and Tranmere on Saturday. And Yems is hoping they get through the week unscathed.

Speaking on Monday morning, John Yems said: “We are travelling up today to Morecambe, coming back after the game, training again on Thursday and then travelling to Tranmere on Friday. You just hope you don’t pick up any injuries.

“The lads who are not playing have to train so they will be in Wednesday.

“You have to keep everyone up to the fitness levels because you never know when you might need to call on them.”

Yems made more changes to the starting line-up on Saturday and knows each game could be like that.

He said: “It’s a bit of a double-edged sword.

“The only way you can get them match fit is to play them, but you can’t play them unless they are match fit.

“We can’t afford any more injuries in the squad. It’s not just us, it’s the same for every team. You just hope you get the balance right and you hope to come through it stronger than the other sides.”

Reds are 13th in the League Two table while Morecambe are fifth and Tranmere fourth.

And the games come thick and fast with Reds hosting Salford City next Tuesday night. Yems added: “We have got so many games to squeeze in in such a short amount of time.”
