The Seagulls lost 1-0 at home to Liverpool on Saturday when Mohamed Salah got the only goal from the penalty spot early in the second half.

Albion also lost 1-0 at Anfield earlier in the season, after losing 5-1 and 4-0 to the Reds last season.

Brighton beat Manchester United 3-2 and drew with Arsenal 1-1 at the Amex earlier this season, while they were only beaten 2-1 by both Tottenham and Chelsea.

Duffy says that is the progress Albion are making and said after Saturday's match with Liverpool: "I always say we're improving.

"You can see that against the big teams especially. We're always in the games and I'm sure if you asked them, they'd say it was a tough game against us.

"They tried to break us down but we've just got to take the extra step now and try to get more wins."

Brighton manager Chris Hughton said after the game that he thinks Liverpool are favourites to win the Premier League title.

The Reds moved seven points clear at the top, although Manchester City play their game in hand at home to Wolves tonight.

Hughton said: “At this moment I think they still have to be favourites for the title.

“Whether they will win it, I think the same as most people in the game that it will be between them and Manchester City.

“Tottenham are having a wonderful season so you can’t rule anybody out, but I think the two favourites are them and Manchester City.

“At the moment they’re in pole position with some points to play with.”
