Westfield clinched fifth place in Sussex County Football League Division Two with a 3-1 win at home to Steyning Town, while Bexhill defied the odds to pull off a tremendous 2-1 victory away to runners-up Newhaven.

Goals from Gordon Cuddington, Danny Woodley and Mike Booth gave Westfield a fifth win in six games, and put them within a point of their highest ever tally in senior football. The club has only finished higher than fifth on two occasions.

Bexhill chalked up just their third win since Boxing Day despite fielding injured attacking midfielder Dan Hill in goal, goalkeeper Joe Rogers in midfield and two third team players on the wings. Third team goalkeeper Joe Turner also came off the bench in midfield.

After a goalless first half, Linton Rogers poked Bexhill ahead following a corner only for Newhaven to level shortly afterwards with a goal the visitors felt was offside. Jordan Woodley won it for Bexhill with an 87th minute penalty awarded for a foul on Linton Rogers.
