United put in an impressive display at Crabtree Park on Saturday as goals from Andy Chick, Ashley Harper and Mike Sayers saw them down Swans.

Tucker is hoping now they do not follow their early-season pattern of a good win followed up with a disappointing result.

He said: “We caught Storrington on a bit of a bad day and I know Nigel Dyer (Storrington manager) was very disappointed with them.

“We played well, though, and against a side like that, that can be difficult opposition, it’s pleasing. In the second half they put us under a bit of pressure, but we held strong, last week we did not do that against Worthing United.

“It’s about how we move on now, we need to work hard in training ahead of our Division 2 Cup match with Little Common, and then going back into league action, which we’ll concentrate on. Apart from Eastbourne, I think anyone can beat any side on their day this year, so in every game you have got to battle.”

The home side took the lead on 25 minutes with a good cross into the box which dropped at the feet of Chick in the box, who finished from close range.

Swans’ centre-back Sam Elliott was then caught in possession by Harper who found himself with only the keeper to beat on 36 minutes.

United’s Matt Noble was pulling the strings in midfield and had another solid game for his side. Gary Elliott made another good save and also kept out a penalty after United were awarded a spot-kick after a shoulder-to-shoulder challenge in the area.

With Swans searching to get something out of the game, they gifted United a third in the closing stages as a cross from the right found Sayers who headed down and the ball somehow bounced over Elliott and into the net.
