Will the real Robinsplease stand up...

Does anyone know which Hassocks team will turn up on any particular day?

It is true they were missing a few regulars on Tuesday but that is no excuse for an inept performance as YM belied their lowly placing to complete an emphatic double.

Jekyll & Hyde Hassocks played second fiddle to their visitors in terms of possession all evening.

And even when they did get the ball they gave it away with some shocking distribution.

But for all that the hosts led 1-0 at the break and looked likely to pierce a sluggish and square YM back line whenever they crossed the halfway line.

Stuart Brown twice released the pacy Nathan Miles through the middle in the opening seven minutes and on the second occasion he took the chance well.

YM hit the bar on 10 and 44 minutes, with Phil Gault doing likewise at the other end after 38 minutes.

If perhaps a little fortunate to lead at the break, then the Robins’ luck ran out in the second half when YM deservedly took the points courtesy of a Chris Williams hat-trick.

After seemingly getting caught offside from most of his team’s attacks before the break, he used his pace to embarrass the home defence in the second half.

His goals came in a 13-min-ute spell starting in the 54th minute, with the first and third one-on-ones with home keeper Simon Lehkyj. The second came when a shot broke to him in front of goal after great initial work by left back Dan Evans.

Hassocks pushed up skipper Stuart Faith as an extra striker late on but the lack of meaningful service continued.

Hassocks: Lehkyj; South, Goodrich, Faith, Bryant (Pitcher, 73); Brown (Weston, 47), O’Callaghan, Hibbert, Butler; Miles, Gault. Middy Starman: Not awarded.
