A first goal for the ladies by Keavy Price cemented the win and a tough-looking away tie at Cardiff City Ladies now awaits.

Chichester manager Liam Greenfield had to juggle his side with three key players unavailable. This allowed Wilson to make her full debut up front and Kally Ambler to return to the starting line up, along with Widdows.

Price retained her place at left-back with Kerry Ryan and Emma Alexandre the powerhouses in defence.

Twenty-five minutes had elapsed when Chichester found the breakthrough their pressure deserved. Wilson’s beautifully-timed ball from Ambler put the striker through on goal and keeper Erin Davis-Donne was powerless to prevent the finish.

The green and whites soon doubled their lead with Widdows notching her first with a simple finish. Wilson darted clear and surged towards the box and saw Widdows powering in and delivered the perfect ball to find her team-mate unmarked at the back stick to slam home.

Helen Ogle’s pace asked questions of the Chichester defence but, being backed up by Jade Widdowson, any opportunities quickly evaporated.

Basingstoke’s frustrations grew before the interval when Chichester added a third through Price, netting her first goal of the season in the process. Price received a pass from a free-kick and, just outside the box, turned and fired in a low effort which passed through a crowd and nestled in the bottom corner.

The second half saw more dominant play from the visitors and soon after the hour, Chichester got their fourth with Widdows in the right place to grab her second.

Lauren Cheshire fired in a well-flighted effort from long distance that smacked the crossbar and Widdows headed the ball back over Davis-Donne’s head and in before anyone else could react.

Wilson rounded off the scoring a few minutes later showing great awareness to dart into the box and receive a perfect ball from Ambler, who had controlled brilliantly from a delivery from Chloe Dowdell. Wilson slammed the ball home and celebrated heartily. Lucie Challen and Sian Payne came on in the second half and Chichester saw out time to progress to the next round.
