Worthing win gets Chichester's vital spell off to great start

Two goals from teenager Morgan Forry and a third from Scott Dormer lifted the Oaklands Park boys away from the Sussex League first-division danger zone.

Sherlock said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the win – the lads worked extremely hard and deserved it. That’s four points from six in the last two.

“I said to the lads before the game the next six games were crucial and they did themselves proud. The togetherness and spirit were immense.

“We must keep up the momentum over the next five games.”

City took the lead on 16 minutes when keeper Lee Aylward failed to deal with a back pass and Forry scored easily.

Five minutes later it was 2-0 as Forry cut in from the left and get into a good shooting position unchallenged before firing home.

The City defence had little trouble in dealing with any Worthing threat.

Forry seemed sure to claim his hat-trick when breaking clear, despite being blatantly fouled by Jamie McLeod. Forry messed up his shot, but a second yellow was flashed to McLeod.

A brilliant run by Dan Watts culminated in Scott Dormer adding City’s third.

City captain Perry Northeast said: “You can only beat what’s put in front of you.

“What we’ve been lacking is somebody who can score goals but I think Morgan has shown he could well be that person.”
