Wride and Shrubb fly Sussex flag for Chichester ladies

The pair were in the squad who faced a London FA side last week at Beckenham, Kent.

Both played as Sussex lost 4-1. Neither scored but both enjoyed the experience.

City have worked tirelessly over the past few seasons to develop players through their various systems and these two are another fantastic example of the side’s recent success.

First team manager Matt Wright said: “We have created a very professional environment at Chichester City Ladies and the players have thrived in this atmosphere.

“As a club our results speak for themselves and it is great to see the county side acknowledging that our players are capable of competing at the highest level.”

Wride and Shrubb have been an integral part of Chichester City Ladies’ progression into the third tier of English women’s football and have come through the strong link with Chichester College.

Wride is still studying at the College and playing for their academy side.

She said: “The level of coaching I’ve received at both Club and College has been outstanding, I am so proud to be playing for my county and what makes it really special is the fact I am also gaining recognition for the club.”

Prolific goalscorer Shrubb has also progressed to the club from the college link.

Both players scored on their Sussex debuts.
