Hyett’s fifth and sixth goals in four starts since re-joining from Horley put YM ahead twice in the County League Division 1 clash, but Dan Martin cancelled those goals out with a brace of his own.

And despite being pegged back, YM boss Peter Buckland was happy to pick up a point against tricky opposition.

“It wasn’t a vintage YM performance, but I thought Selsey were really good,” he said. “It was a totally different side to the one we played down there. They had some good, quality players out there tonight and if that Selsey side turned out every week, they’d be in the top three.

“I don’t think it was two points dropped. Our shape was good, but we had to work hard to get something out of the game, and in fact, it was probably a point gained against a very good side.

“All things considered, the lads did alright. Selsey could have leap-frogged us in the league, but as it is, they’re still one point behind us. Taking the cup game out, we’re still on a bit of a roll.”
