Lancing’s only reward for their efforts was a consolation goal with 18 minutes to go by Nana Baah.

It was a foggy day at Culver Road, home of Sussex County FA for the gmae which was played on their 3G all-weather pitch.

A well-observered minute’s silence to honour the war dead was held for Remembrance Day.

Special guests at the club were two corporals and a sargeant from Worthing’s Royal Marine Cadets who stood in the centre circle during the silence.

YM made three changes to the side which beat Eastbourne United 4-0 on Tuesday night with goalkeeper Lewis Blaney, Guy Harding and Schaaf coming in for Sam Smith, Dan Evans and Sullivan, who was on the bench.

YM were fastest out of the blocks and went close to scoring in the first minute when Simpson headed a corner-kick wide.

Lancing’s Tom Caplin had a good strike from outside the area but the ball flew straight to visiting keeper Blaney.

YM took the lead in only the fourth minute when Fidler tired to punch a ball clear, the ball rose in the aie and Crane beat defender Sharman to the ball, heading powerfully into the net.

Schaaf had a go for YM for 26 yards but the ball skimmed to the keeper, without causing him a problem.

YM then added a second goal on 25 minutes when Simpson outjumped keeper Fidler to a cross to head home.

The visitors looked to have sealed victory with a third goal scored just five minutes later by skipper Ashley Dugdale, who ran on to a cross from the left and hit a stunning low shot into the net from 18 yards.

YMCA continued their domination as light rain set in during the second half, with two goals scored in three minutes by Schaaf at the near post and sub Howell made it 5-0 with a superb individual run from the right and shot to beat the keeper.

Another substitute, Sullivan scored YM’s sixth with a tap-in goal from a ball crossed from the left.

Brown made it 7-0 to the visitors when he rounded Fidler to find the back of the net.

Lancing finally managed to grab a consolation goal after 72 minutes, nodded in by substitute Baah from Tom Caplin’s cross.
