Worthing Football Club’s youth team’s FA Cup dream came to an end last night (Tuesday) with a 4-2 defeat at Carshalton.

The young Rebels side included Bradley Lewis, Harvey Sparks and Nat Hubert, who have all been involved with the first team this season, but they fell just short of making the first round proper.

Two goals in the final three minutes secured the hosts’ victory.

Having fallen 2-0 behind inside five minutes, it left Worthing with it all to do. Jack Barnes pulled one back before half-time, while Hubert levelled in the second half, before Carshalton struck twice late on to win.

Youth team manager Ian Hart said: “It was a bitter pill to swallow, given the home team’s goal times of two, five, 87 and 90 minutes. And that their manager conceded we were the better side for 80 minutes.
