The Pebbles enjoyed a hard-earned win at Worthing.

It was 0-0 at half-time after an evenly-matched first half and Ollie Pearce scored the first at the end of a great passing move from the back which left the striker to run through the defence and blast the ball home.

Dan Kempson scored a great free-kick from outside the box curling it inside the post with the keeper nowhere near it.

Worthing grabbed a late goal back but didn’t look like scoring again as the Pebbles slowed the game down and played down time.

This was a good gritty performance from all and a well-deserved win in front of first-team coach Darin Killpartrick and Rocks general manager Jack Pearce.

Steyning 1 Chichester City 4

On a wet night, the Steyning pitch looked playable but proved tricky.

The slippery surface cut up badly but Chichester were patient and this paid off as Joe Gromett was on the scoresheet with two goals in the first half. A gentle reminder from Steyning that the game was not over came in the form of a great strike from long distance before half-time.

The second half saw an invigorated Chichester finally start to take charge and further goals from Jono Tallent and Matt Boulton finished off Steyning.

CITY: Holden, Gilbert, Heath, Boulton, Knowles, Ansa (Chittock), Tallent, Vandriel, Pope(Boutwood), Gromett, Villanueva (Perry).

On a very chilly morning, Chichester’s youngsters took time to get going against spirited opposition.

Storrington went close on a couple of occasions before Chichester broke the deadlock through Ryan Barratt, whose determination saw him finish off one of many early set-pieces.

A second was added through Joe Gromett who continues to be a regular on the scoresheet for Chichester.

A mistake at the back saw Chi punished with a late goal from Storrington.

A change of line-up to introduce fresh legs meant another very slow start for Chichester.

However one of the newly-introduced players, Lewis Villanueva, broke the deadlock when the ball deflected to him off the Storington keeper and he dispatched it into the goal.

Another round of substitutions saw the return of Gromett, who was soon back on the scoresheet after being put through goal by Jonathan Tallent.

Chi finished 2-0 winners in their fifth game in seven days, a tall order for any team and a stat that shows the strength of their young squad.

CITY: Holden, Gilbert, Barratt(Capt.), Boulton, Boutwood (Vandriel), Tallent, Pope, Pattison, Villanueva (Perry), Green (Gromett).
