Youth football: Lower Beeding Lions U16s roaring to title, Horsham U16 return in style and Horsham Sparrows U12s stay second

Alex Moore got the home side off to a flying start when he headed in a Andrew Roberts corner. Ross Williams then made it 2-0 two minutes later.

The match was all but over when a Callum Nash corner was not cleared and Roberts fired the ball home from 12 yards.

Nash was deinied two goals and Liam Ruz was denied by a last ditch block from Midhust.

Tom Bolton headed onto the post, before the continued pressure finally told just before the break when Harry Lee combined well with Moore and coolly lobbed the ‘keeper.

Horsham extended their lead midway through the second period when Roberts found Moore who drilled the ball home.

Nash then got the goal he deserved when he drove the ball low into the bottom left hand corner.

In added time Moore won a penalty which was brilliantly saved by the Midhurst ‘keeper, although there appeared to be some confusion as to whether the ball had crossed the line.

The Lower Beeding Lions U16s took another step towards the Division A title with a 3-1 victory over rivals Steyning.

It was the Lions who opened the scoring when free kick from Jacob Dean allowed Andrew Roberts to head goalwards with Liam Ruz on hand to finish.

The Lions then made it 2-0 when a cross was headed on by Alex Moore for Joe Wright to finish from close range.

Steyning came back into the match early in the second half with a close range effort fired past Lions keeper Sean Richardson.

Liam Ruz then set up Aaron Pyzer whose strike left the keeper standing to make it 3-1 to leave the Lions top of the table.

Horsham Sparrows Under-12s stayed second in the league with a strong performance against Newhaven.Sparrows took an early lead with a strike from Charley Simpson only to go into half time 1-1 after a deflected shot that proved impossible for Hannah Gardner Sparrows keeper to stop.

In the second half Sparrows attacked from the start and goals from Maddie Davis, Daisy Beddall, Ava Hutson and another from Charley Simpson saw a comfortable 5-1 win for Sparrows keeping them second in the league.
