The Footloose defence held strong against speed from the opposing centre and goal attack and the first quarter finished 12-5 in Footloose’s favour.

Yvie Belcher and Patrizia Quieti deflected passes and interceptions to halt attacking play from the opposition, while any looped passes into the opposing goal shooter were keenly defended by Charlotte Eastley.

Anna Drabble at wing attack pushed forward to feed balls to Grainger, who executed some great shots with marksman precision.

The lead was 23-9 at the end of the first half.

As legs started to tire, great shooting from the opposition closed the lead slightly.

Jo Dudman came on to strengthen the defence and Footloose maintained their composure in attack with skilled passing from Gamblin and Fuller-Woodhead.

Emma Newbery and Grainger caught some clever rebounds and followed their shots well to make it 30-17.

Grainger and Newbery converted long-range efforts in a high scoring final quarter while Eastley, Quieti and Belcher did well to keep the margin steady.

Player of the match was Louise Grainger.
