Garman fires Steyning into the semis

SUBSTITUTE Ben Garman's unfavoured left foot on Saturday sent Steyning into a Division Cup semi-final at Lancing with the 80th-minute winner created by Chris Duffett and Simon Price. They won 2-1 away to Crawley Down.

Crawley Down in the second half had erased Steyning's 13th-minute lead '” tidily taken by Paul Schofield after James Davis and Leo Trower had combined. It had been a twinge to Trower that brought Garman off the bench after 50 minutes.

A post had denied Greg Hearne a 2-0 lead for Steyning, then Chris Duffett headed tamely wide. Manager Mark Dalgleish commented: "That's another important goal from Paul '” he's a real asset to us '” but it's twice running we could have sealed a game before half-time. We'd have had fewer nerves later on."
