Goals galore again as Saxons net another win

South Saxons continued their good form with an 8-2 win away to Crowborough on Saturday.

The result, coupled with Lewes III and Penguin drawing, moved Saxons two points clear in the race for second place in South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One.

Saxons actually fell behind in the first couple of minutes, but were 4-1 up by half time thanks to strikes from Gavin Cload, Dave Draper (2) and Jamie Busbridge.

A Dan Burnett double and Cload’s second made it 7-1 before Crowborough pulled one back in controversial fashion. Draper completed his hat-trick near the end, however, to round-off the scoring. Man of the match was George Eldridge.

A full report will appear in Friday’s Hastings Observer.
