Going is Good for former boss of Tote

Jones, who was in charge of the Tote for more than 10 years, said: "I've had an association with Goodwood for more than 40 years, first as a racegoer and then in a professional racing capacity. It is one of the world's truly great racecourses.

"I'm delighted to be asked to join the board and very much hope I will be able to make a positive contribution."

Lord March, the chairman of Goodwood Racecourse, said: "Peter Jones is a racing enthusiast with tremendous experience of the sport and we are delighted that he has agreed to come on to the board."
