GOLDS EASE AWAY FROM TROUBLE

THE MUCH sought-after Steve Davies conjured up a magical hat-trick to further enhance his growing reputation and send Pagham packing in an enthralling game at the Sportsfield last Thursday night.

In the end, Pagham could not stop the home side from gaining their third win on the trot and opening up a handy gap over third-bottom Southwick. And, with Wickers only drawing on Saturday and Sidlesham having been docked their three points for the win over Arundel due to an ineligible player, their position looks even stronger.

Throughout the 90 minutes, there was a simmering under-current that threatened to boil over as the Lions fought desperately to combat the pace that Littlehampton produced. All the teams in the relegation battle have had some good results recently, but none of them have touched such a rich vein of form as the Golds three wins in a row and on this performance, even the top guys will not fancy playing them.
