Golds feel robbed of victory

LITTLEHAMPTON FC felt robbed of their first win of the season by two costly decisions from an assistant referee at home to Selsey on Tuesday night.

Selsey's first bit of luck came by way of, to say the least, a dubious penalty, awarded by linesman Kevin Edney for handball against Tom Bird. To most other eyes, it looked like chest rather than arm, but former Gold Daren Pearce did not show any charity and sent Jon Hendrick the wrong way from the spot with 13 minutes left.

The Littlehampton heads dropped immediately. If any side were going to win, it was Selsey, and so it proved. With three minutes remaining, Tom Ridley darted down the right, beat Bird and pulled back for Pearce to sweep home. The ball appeared to have gone out for a goal-kick when Ridley beat Bird, but play was allowed to continue.
