GOLDS MISS DAVIES

LITTLEHAMPTON suffered a heavy defeat at the Sportsfield on Sunday to Combined Counties League Godalming and Guildford.

Golds had the better of the early play and could have taken the lead. Strikers James Thornton and Ashley Martin both just failed to connect with Danny Boyle's teasing cross on four minutes, and moments later Jason Hughes' 20-yard cross-shot clipped the outside of the post.

Godalming took the lead on 18 minutes, somewhat fortuitously.

Paul O'Sullivan's clearance whacked Godalming's Shaun Lydon on the head, and the ball rebounded to Dave Bridger who calmly lobbed Tony Musslewhite.
