The traditional Valentine’s competition had been rescheduled following heavy rain and the dry, fast greens took most players a few holes to get used to. Playing St Andrew’s Greensomes, Carole and Tony Bauckham were runners-up with 37 points and Meriel Jolley with Mike Mullen were third on 36.

Ed Roberts, playing off five, was the star of the weekend stableford competitions on Waterfall as he led Division One both days with scores of 41 and 40. The highlight came at the 331-yard 9th where his iron to the green found the cup for a very rare eagle. Bill Keddie and Joe Froud ran him close on Saturday, both carding 40, a score matched by Division Two winner Andy Bone. Sunday’s Division Two winner was Ray Page with 38.
