Evans comes fourth in France

Golf star Ben Evans recorded a fourth consecutive top 10 finish on the Alps Tour this afternoon (Sunday).

The Staplecross-based talent came tied fourth in the Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or with a four-under-par 72-hole total of 280 at Golf de La Grange aux Ormes in France.

Evans was tied 18th after a weather delayed first round in which he mixed four birdies with two bogeys and a double bogey. He moved up to tied sixth following a second round 69 featuring six birdies, including three in a row from the fourth, and four bogeys.

The 26-year-old remained in the same position on the back of a third round 70 which contained four birdies, one bogey and a double bogey. Another 70 in the final round - this time with three birdies and two bogeys - nudged Evans up a couple of places.

He finished alongside Italian golfer Alessio Bruschi, the third round leader who closed with a 76. They were two shots behind joint runners-up Uli Weinhandl (Austria) and Pierrick Peracino (France), and three behind English winner Steven Brown, who birdied four of the last six holes for a 65.

Evans, of Rye and Sedlescombe Golf Clubs, is now up to seventh on the season-long order of merit having also finished tied fifth in the Peugeot Open, tied second in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Open and tied eighth in the 2013 Umbria Open over the past few weeks.
