The Staplecross-based professional came tied 21st in the Tshwane Open with a level par 72-hole total of 280 at Pretoria CC in South Africa.

It was something of a rollercoaster week for Evans, with all four rounds containing a mix of birdies and bogeys.

The 29-year-old began with a level par 70 featuring four birdies and four bogeys, and followed that with a two-over-par second round 72 which included three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.

Evans carded successive one-under-par 69s in the final two rounds. His third round had four birdies, three of them on the back nine, and three bogeys, and the final round featured five birdies and four bogeys, the last of which on the 18th cost him a place in the top 15 alongside fellow Sussex-based golfer Toby Tree.

The result continues a consistent start to the 2016 campaign for Evans, who lies 54th on the season-long Race to Dubai rankings having made the cut in six of the seven tournaments he’s played in so far.
