GOLF: Great week for Cottesmore ladies

2. MORRICE FOURS

Playing against Eastbourne Downs this week, Cottesmore Team Captain, Irene Matheson, new to the role, led her team to a great victory. The pairings were Irene Matheson and Linda Adamson, Meg Mitchell and Brenda Williams, Penny Gaunt and Pauline Kirkman. With the first two matches in the bag, the third match who were also in the lead, were called in, the match having been won. After the match, the Eastbourne team commented that they found the lovely, but challenging Griffin course at Cottesmore “Difficult”. Their path to the third round consisted of first qualifying through a club competition, then winning against Cuckfield away, scooping the second round against Mannings Heath away.

1. DAILY MAIL FOURSOMES

In an excellent battle against local friends and rivals, Mannings Heath, Jenny Frei and Irene Matheson beat the Mannings pair away, winning on the 17th, taking them through to the fourth round of this national event.

- Division 2 had a good win at home against Hollingbury Park 6-1

- Division 3 beat Lindfield at home 6 ½ - ½

- The Friendly team won at home against Chichester 3-1

The June Monk cup was closely fought with Gail Fee winning on count back from Laura Marsh, closely followed by Jill Lewis. The Man’s Invitation to Ladies was won by Brenda Williams with Nigel Powell on count back from Daria Blaze and Mark Waddell. Terry Van Hinsburgh and Lady Captain Pauline Kirkman were 3rd.

In the Monthly Medal : Silver Medal winner – Brenda Williams, Nett 72, Bronze medal winner – Fee Drew, Nett 73.
