The morning pairs saw Ifield carry out a rare clean sweep and take a commanding 4-0 lead going into the afternoon singles.

There was no relaxing for an impressive Ifield team in the afternoon as they completed a convincing victory and cruised into the quarter-finals with plenty to spare.

Interim team captain Andy MacGadie, standing in for captain Andy Haywood, had been confident from the start that Ifield would have too much firepower for Hassocks, and so it proved.

The mood was further lifted with the news that Ifield’s name had been drawn first out of the hat in the next round, that gives them the important advantage of a home tie in the quarters against Waterhall.

Ifield: Craig Patterson, Sam Jarvis, Charlie Hilton, Steve Penston, Joe Buckley, Ollie Pyle, Kevin Robbins and Chris Purseglove.
