Members have spoken of their satisfaction having returned to the course, where both the physical and mental benefits are more apparent than ever.

During the period of closure essential maintenance was undertaken and the playing surfaces maintained to a playing standard.

As an outdoor activity, it was anticipated that golf courses would be opened at an early stage of lockdown easing and Cowdray Golf worked closely with the sport’s governing bodies to ensure the safe reopening of the course.

Director of Golf Tim Allen said: “It was absolutely fantastic to see members playing again after an unprecedented period of time. There was certainly a healthy mixture of opening tee shots!

“Through time we will be able to re-open the Pro Shop and welcome green fees. The clubhouse will fall in line with other hospitality venues. The health benefits of golf have always been there however in these times are even more relevant.”

Allen praised course manager Jonathan Smith and his team, who kept the course in superb condition during the restrictive period.
