The Staplecross-based player came tied 29th in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open after four rounds of 70 gave him a four-under-par 72-hole total of 280 at Heritage GC.

Evans, of Rye and Sedlescombe Golf Clubs, carded three birdies and two bogeys in his first round, and two birdies and one bogey in his second.

His front nine in round three followed the same consistent pattern with a solitary birdie and eight pars, but things started to become more up and down thereafter with three birdies and three bogeys on the back nine.

Evans hadn’t dropped a single shot on the front nine in his first three rounds, but bogeyed the second and third in round four. He fought back, though, with six birdies and three bogeys in the closing 12 holes.

The 28-year-old Evans lies 120th in the season-long Race to Dubai standings and is 366th on the world rankings having made the cut in his last six European Tour and European Challenge Tour outings.
