Three the magic number for Cottesmore golfers

Cottesmore teams enjoyed success on multiple fronts with their Division 1, 2 and 3 sides all making their respective quarter finals.

Leading up to their qualification, the Division 3 side had a good win over a very strong Sedlescombe team.

The team of Meg Mitchell, Karen Stafford, Peggy Beadell, Pauline Kirkman, Sandra Morfey, Gail Fee and Heather Tomsett won a nail-biting match, and this was followed by another close win against Lindfield at home.

The Division 1 team enjoyed excellent wins over the Dyke, 5-2 at home, and then Cowdray Park this week to also progress.

The Division 2 side won convincingly against Mannings Heath at home 6.5-0.5. Captain Jenny Frei said: “I cannot praise the team enough for an outstanding effort which means we have won all three of the matches we’ve played so far.”

Well done to Irene Matheson, Linda Atkins, Angela Whittington, Viv Lyons, Christine Knight and Margaret Swatman.

In a friendly match the team of ladies played Cowdray Park at home and won 2 ½ to 1 ½. The team were: Fiona Drew, Jan Brice, Ann Anderson, Jenny Dixon, Julie Lintern, Denise Waller, Marion Hollands and Shirley Vance.

The Rosebowl Cup Competition was won by Penny Gaunt with 34 points.

The Ping Four Ball Better Ball was won by Jenny Frei and Irene Matheson (41 points). Heather Tomsett won the May monthly stableford and the nine-hole competition was won by Iris Coldrick on count back from Julie Lintern.
